question: Hello: I am an engineer at ------------- in -------. I do HVAC system design. I would like more information on Radiant barrier technology CALCULATIONS. I need to be able to show clients how I come up with the energy savings using this technology. Without the scientific backup, it looks like "smoke and mirrors". Where can I find useful data.

question: I have an existing pre-fab metal building. It is 24X36 with 12 foot walls. I am looking for some ideas on retrofitting it with some kind of insulation.

the primary need is the roof, or ceiling. It has purlins on 4 foot centers. I am interested in astro-foil, and need some ideas on installing it without removing the metal siding.

for instance screwing some 2 x 2 lumber into the insides of the purlines, and then stapling the foil to the lumber. How much sag would I have if I were to do this? Am I going to have trouble with the staples wanting to pull throught the foil?

any help that you can provide is appreciated,

thanks,

----- ------

question: What is the R-value if it is installed on the underside of rafters in a cathedral ceiling? The air space/vent will be between the foil and the ceiling. Is this an "apparent" R-value or a true R-value that will satisfy a building code requirement. (Code in my area requires R-19 for roofs).
