Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be power washed with a mild detergent and thoroughly rinsed to remove all dirt, debris, loose gravel, loose paint, rust and scaled previous coating which could prevent proper adhesion.
IMPORTANT: Where ponding water conditions persist beyond 2-3 days, corrective measures such as roof drains, crickets, etc. must be installed prior to coating to eliminate water build up.
Metal Roofs: Tighten or replace loose or missing fasteners. Remove all rust and prime those areas with Uniflex® Metal Primer. Severely rusted panels must be replaced. Repair cracks, breaks, open seams, flashings and protrusions with Uniflex® Aluminum Patching Cement and Uniflex® AMA Glass Fabric. Uniflex® Seam Tape may be used as an alternative to patch and fabric on seams and around protrusions. Repaired and patched areas using Aluminum Cement should weather 2-3 days. Seam Tape may be coated immediately. Newly installed metal roofs must be allowed to weather a minimum of six months or etched with a mild acid solution.
Built-up and Modified Bitumen Roofs: Repair torn flashings, parapet walls, large blisters and surface breaks using Uniflex® Aluminum Patching Cement and Uniflex® AMA Glass Fabric. Severely alligatored smooth asphalt and gravel surfaces must be primed using black asphalt primer followed by application of a clay stabilized asphalt emulsion. (Follow manufactures recommendations for application and weathering instructions of emulsion and primer). Prior to applying Uniflex® Aluminum 500 Roof Coating, power wash emulsion to remove water soluble oils. Note: New asphalt or modified bitumen roofs should weather 30-90 days prior to application of aluminum.
Application
Although formulated for a minimum of settling, Uniflex® 500 must be power mixed before and during application. Uniflex® 500 may be applied with roof brushes, heavy duty spray equipment or spreaders on a completely dry surface.

2 gal./100 sq.ft. (.815 L/sq. m)
|
Metal (corrugated)
|
2 gal./ 100 sq.ft. (.815 L/sq. m)

Note: Coverage may vary depending on the actual condition of the surface. The coverage rates shown are intended as minimum application recommendations. Over corrugated and irregular metal surfaces, allow for additional surface area by multiplying total square feet by 1.15.
Maintenance
It is recommended that the coating installation be checked on a regular maintenance schedule. Small area touch ups can be made at any time following recommended application procedures.
