Dr. Watson taught Psychology and counseling at the New Orleans Baptist Seminary for thirty-four years. Johnie, his wife, taught porcelain and ceramics at the Seminary and both were entered into Who's Who as result of their work. They live on a farm near Picayune in south Mississippi just fifty miles northeast of New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain.
Dr. Watson hold's two doctoral degrees. He earned the Doctor of Religious Education with a major in Developmental Psychology at Southwestern Baptist Seminary and the Doctor of Education at New Orleans Baptist Seminary. Postdoctoral studies were done at Tulane University in New Orleans and the University of Southern Mississippi.
During his teaching career Dr. Watson supervised students in Clinical Pastoral Training at hospitals in Louisiana, Texas,and Florida while serving as Mental Health Consultant at two hospitals in Alabama. He is presently a National Board Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Mississippi.
Dr. Watson has written extensively for religious publications, served as President of the Gulf Coast Association for Marriage and Family Counselors and was awarded regional honors for his work in that organization. He is an Approved Supervisor for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and has a family practice at Spring Meadow, his farm on Liberty Road, near Picayune, MS.
Dr. Watson teaches a Sunday school class in the First Baptist Church, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Crosby Memorial Hospital, and writes a weekly column on family life for the Picayune Item in the city of Picayune. He is a member of The Family Support Network, an organization dedicated to the moral and spiritual enrichment of families.
Dr. and Mrs. Watson have four children and six grandchildren. Each of their three sons have the same wives they married and each couple has a son and a daughter. Their youngest, Anne, is unmarried.
Stanley Jr, M.D., Ph.D. and his wife, Huda, Ph.D. are co-directors of the Mental Health Research Institute of the University of Michigan.
John Mark, Ph.D. is Professor of Sociology and a Marriage and Family Therapist at Tennessee Technological Institute. His wife, Cheryl, is retired from her position of office manager with the telephone company and is studying art.
David Lee, MS., is a psychotherapist in Daytona Florida; his wife, Linda is a CPA and both are in private practice.
Anne Gaye, MSW, serves as Program Coordinator in a residential treatment facility for the developmentally handicapped and is Clinical Director for adolescent males in therapeutic foster care.
Stanley and Johnie enjoy photography, raising flowers, and bird watching.
